aTeam Ministries is a 501(c)(3) organization committed to offering spiritual, emotional, and financial support to children and their families within the pediatric cancer community. Our ministry fills the gap that often exists for families that are receiving great medical care inside the walls of a hospital and the unique needs of oncology and hematology patients outside of those walls.
Andy and Jan Thrower founded aTeam Ministries after walking through the formidable world of childhood cancer themselves in 2009 with their 16-month-old son, Anderson, who was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, or ALL. Inspired by their first-hand experiences and the families they met, the Thrower began aTeam Ministries to support and minister to families that come to Birmingham from all over the state of Alabama.
